UMBC’s University Steering Committee (USC) oversees our shared governance process and consists of executives from six representative bodies (listed below). The USC establishes rules ensuring the proper coordination of shared governance groups. It also represents the interests of our shared governance groups to UMBC Administration, the University System of Maryland (USM) Administration, and the USM Board of Regents. In addition, the USC is responsible for periodically reviewing and making proposals to the six representative bodies to improve our shared governance processes and structures and has the authority to call emergency meetings of the representative bodies.
